The Petzl Micrograb is a compact rope clamp / grab for permanent installation on the rope. This device is desigend to be used in applications such as, hauling heavy loads in a progress & capture system, moving on a fixed rope as a back-up device. The Micrograb is very secure once attached to the rope. The rope has to be threaded through the device unlike a Petzl Shunt design where the rope can be put into it at any point by releasing the cam. This makes accidental disconnexion from the rope highly unlikely. The Micrograb can move up or down the rope when the cam is not loaded. But the device will lock as soon as the cam is loaded. The Micrograb can be used to replace a prussic hitch on an adjustible lanyard. The rope can slip through the device if subject to a large impact force. The Micrograb is compact and lightweight weighing only 175g. These devices are induvidually tested and are for use on ropes between 9 to 13mm.
